What happened at the 2008 Picnic in the Park?
700 people estimated (based on # of plates and bread/buns) came through the 3 rows of tables (2 in each side) to this year's event. Flocks/herds of UMM students came in various times from 5-7pm. It was a beautiful warm Monday afternoon, which it wasn't too hot or too cold! No rain-an answer to prayer! Churches and campus ministries were involved (compared to last year), which was noticed when a long-line of campus ministers/church pastors came on stage to share about thier particular church/ministry/organization! The sight of the park was beautiful-saw circles of students gathered together on the grassy park, picnic tables on the black top filled with people eating, and long lines of people from various walks of life (e.g. college students, elderly, youth, kids, developmentally disabled, ethnic backgrounds, etc...) through the roof covered shelter that had the abundance of food.
Thanks again for your prayers and support!
Thanks Bobby Culbertson and volunteers for your heart, time, and dedication every year for spear-heading this event. Also thank you for everybody else (hog roast "cookers"-spearheaded my Neil Thielke, churches, volunteers, entertainer (Kris Hanson-provided music background), etc..) for teaming along for Christ to make this annual event a success!
Come show your support to the "Morris Community Picnic" (sponsored by the City and Chamber of Commerce every year in welcoming UMM back; showcasing area businesses) on Thursday, August 28th @5:30-7pm of 2004 at East Side Park!
Below are pictures from the beginning towards the end of this 2+ hour event:
